About
About this book.
Help! Our Dad has Man-ears Disease is a heartfelt, illustrated family book that helps children and loved ones understand what it is like to live with Meniere's Disease. Told through the eyes of children, the story follows a family as they learn to recognize the symptoms of vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and ear fullness, and as they discover how to support their dad with patience, kindness, and understanding.
The book is written for any family touched by Meniere's Disease or another vestibular disorder, whether a parent, grandparent, sibling, or friend is the one living with the condition. It gives children a shared language for symptoms that are often invisible and hard to explain, and it reassures families that they are not alone in the confusion, worry, and love that come with a chronic illness. Teachers, audiologists, ENTs, and vestibular therapists will also find it a gentle, accessible resource to share with the families they serve.
The book is written and self-published by Daniel Pancy, a former special education teacher who spent more than twenty-five years helping students with significant emotional and behavioral challenges feel valued and understood. Daniel's own teaching career ended when he medically retired due to severe bilateral Meniere's Disease, and this book grew directly from his family's experience. A portion of every sale is donated to Meniere's Disease research, so that each copy purchased helps move understanding and care forward.
